Pickleball and Instant Coffee

So, I have been out of sorts the last few month or so... but I am finally getting back to it! We had two rodeos over the last month, I have been slammed at work, and I have been feeling under the weather so that has taken a toll on everything else.

Pickleball

A few weeks ago, we were having dinner with some friends, and they reminded me that their daughter was VERY into Pickleball and was always looking for new people to play with. The next day she texts me asking if I would like to start a weekly game with her. I immediately took her up on it, reminding her that I had not played "seriously" for a few years and was completely out of practice, she replied: “don’t worry, I’ll get you where you need to be”.

We went to her Pickleball club this past Wednesday. We got there and started hitting the ball around for no more than 5 minutes before we got roped into a game. She had to walk me through the rules as we played and we, in no surprise, got beat both games. As soon as we clicked our rackets good game and they left the court- these preteens asked to play us. And then they proceeded to obliterate us back to back. We spent the last half hour running drills on stuff she noticed I needed to work on right after our first few games. I could not remember the last time I squatted that long and by the time I was done, I was definitely feeling it.

All that being said… I had a really great time! We have plans to meet up this week again and If I like it I’m going to get a membership to her club to keep up our weekly dates. I may have been crazy sore the next two days but It was a great way to get in some additional cardio! As soon as I start feeling more comfortable, we are also going to start playing with her friend at another club on Mondays as well.

Falling for Instant Coffee

I am a huge coffee lover but am not a fan of it made/served hot. I love iced coffee but hate how watery it get’s so quick. I have tried a ton of different methods on how to make perfect the iced coffee: I’ve brewed it and stuck the pot in the fridge, I’ve tried cold brew, I’ve tried a Keurig Cold Brew machine, and why some of them worked- none of them had that great coffee shop bought taste unless I dumped a ton of creamer in and I’m trying to keep it mildly healthy. Luckily I got influenced by Tik Tok and found instant coffee and it has been a game changer. I have tried the Nescafe Gold (Espresso) and the Nescafe Ice Roast (Iced Coffee Blend). And they have both fallen into my daily rotation and have basically stopped drinking any other coffe. The Nescafe Gold I mix with my protein shake with a little bit of sugar free chocolate syrup. The Iced Coffee blend I do with just a dash of sugar free creamer when I get to work. Both test amazing and are a ton loss calories since I'm sticking with sugar free options.

After the first few times I left my reusable cups in my car, in the heat, with a slight dash of protein left over and had to deep clean and throw out a few I decided to start buying some plastic cups and printing custom logos for the extra whimsy. IMG_1872 IMG_1873

Tonight (hopefully) I am starting my sourdough starter so hopefully by this time next week I will be making some fresh sourdough!

This week I am going to try and focus on staying a bit more active and on my feet- but also keeping myself busy. I had a bit of an epiphany that I am much happier when I am staying busy.
